How does one singer draw comparisons to both the Beach Boys and Nirvana? How does he get labeled both folk and anti-folk? From the sound of Ben Kweller’s music, it seems that this gets accomplished by the way that he stays true to his heart and allows a range of influences to merge with life’s experiences to create ever-changing sounds. And it works; his song “Penny on the Train” was named one of Rolling Stones Top 100 songs of 2006.
Listen to it on Hype Machine or catch Ben live while he tours over the next couple of months.
