Tony Markellis, the remarkably talented bassist and long-time member of Trey Anastasio’s solo projects, has passed away as confirmed by his nephew on Facebook. No further details have been released at this point. Very sad news.
I had the immense pleasure of seeing Tony Markellis play the bass 15 times and I will never, ever forget it. RIP pic.twitter.com/8Gpq5c4IkR

Safe travels to bassist Tony Markellis, of Trey Anastasio Band. A heavy player. As a bassist, there is no higher calling than to just stick. To. The. Line. And Tony did that unwaveringly, treating the music like James Brown’s or Fela’s. You try playing “Sand” for 15 min! pic.twitter.com/Xgbyvtqgdo
