Check out our very first original video production courtesy of Andrei Molchanov and our talented LMB CO team! Many more of these to come in the future, but today’s post takes us back to the sold-out Lotus show earlier this year at The Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO.
Working with Lotus’ team on the video was nothing short of a smooth and successful project. They were extremely helpful with achieving the final product from taking time off of pre-show duties to help us get organized to sending us the mixdown of the show in order to provide audio for the video. Here’s how we got the shots…
We brought four cameras and an XY stereo microphone; of the cameras we had two Sony Handycams (one of which an FX7), a Canon T2i, and a GoPro Hero2. We kept one of Handycams (not the FX7) on a tripod in the soundbooth for most of the show. The FX7 we moved around with getting shots from the pit, the stage, and around the crowd. We took a shot in the dark rigging the FX7 on a tripod to a piano dolly for a the smooth dolly tracking shot from the pit. Interestingly enough, our experiment was a success and we ended up using this shot in the final product. To really maximize the potential of the GoPro we rigged it to a monopod for the those high angle shots and extra reach.
Editing in Final Cut took about three weeks as all of us are in fact occupied as students for full time jobs. Let us know what you think!
