For the latest on Phish Friday, I thought we’d do a bit of a logical celebration of today’s theatrical release of the The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, the movie based on the second book published in The Chronicles of Narnia series. I really don’t have a whole huge emotional connection to the stories that made up the famous books by C.S. Lewis, but I did always love the Phish tune that bares the same name. Here was a version I caught on their last tour ever; technically, this was the last time the band played at Deer Creek in Indiana, a venue that the band tended to enjoy playing at quite a bit. I’m going to miss being able to hop over to that venue from time to time during the summer; that place was amazing.
I meant to get something out to the masses before today to solicit calls for the best ‘Caspian’ ever, because I’m sure everyone has an opinion on that. I didn’t get to it in time, so feel free to let us know what your pick for the best version of this track would be. For me, it tends to be the ones that I would remember, and to be honest I have no real standing memory of this one. I was in the pavilion at the venue that night, which is a treat in and of itself. But listening back now, this one doesn’t really go into any places that the song hadn’t been brought to before; in fact, when stacked up against the rest of the show that was played that night, ‘Caspian’ was probably the yawn-fest that got everyone to take a break and head to the bathroom to get ready for the end of set nonsense. I’m sure there’s a better, more epic version out there somewhere.
Drop some comments if you think you’ve got a better version to feature, and maybe even upload it to sendspace or something to share with the rest of us.
