Coming off the 1st Annual Anniversary yesterday of one of the better Phish shows from 2010, the October 20th show at Utica Memorial Auditorium in upstate NY (the famed “Guyutica” set), we’re pleased to announce we’ve got a copy of the Phish: Live in Utica 2010 DVD to give away to one of our lucky readers!
Truly a show that stands the test of the “replay value” quotient, lauded by fans and even the critics immediately upon completion as a “gotta hear that one.” When you get a first set of “Vultures,” “McGrupp…” and “Saw it Again,” then complain, please give it up. The band’s playfulness was back and was brought out in spades weaving “Guyute” throughout the show turning it into the appropriately enough Guyutica. A sign inspired the festivities, captured by the famous Dave Vann shot.
The bread and butter is per usual the second set which features a sublime ending that reads “Split Open and Melt > Have Mercy > Piper -> Split Open and Melt > Slave to the Traffic Light.” Yep.
