“Ride It” is one of the instant standouts on Rubio’s highly anticipated EP, Sunday Girl, dropping everywhere soon.
“I wrote ‘Ride It’ maybe 2 years ago with my producer/co-writer Maria on a random Tuesday in Highland Park,” she shares. “I had this idea to write a song about my experience dating in LA. This whole EP is really a single girl’s experience in LA. I didn’t think I had it in me to put out a song like this, but it felt so authentic, and I really kept getting drawn back into this song. It’s reggae, it’s sexy, it’s confident. I’m kinda nervous because I’ve never put something so sexy and cheeky out, but I think it’s very me, and I’m excited for everyone to hear it.”
Rubio will celebrate “Ride It” and the upcoming arrival of Sunday Girl with a special show set for this Saturday, March 14, at Los Angeles, CA’s Rockwell Lounge. See additional information HERE. The rising artist will then spend her spring traveling the US on her largest live run to date. The Sunday Girl Tour kicks off April 17 with a festival performance at Tempe, AZ’s Reggae Rise Up, additional festival appearances, and a one-night-only show supporting Hawaiian superstar Maoli. Pre-sales begin Monday, March 16, at 10 AM local time and end at 10 PM local time on Tuesday, March 17. General on-sale officially kicks off Wednesday, March 18, at 10 AM local time. The upcoming EP will continue to affirm Niko as one of 2026’s most exciting emerging artists thanks to fan favorites including “Five Star” and the irresistible title track, “Sunday Girl,” the latter of which was met with praise from outlets including HOLA! and Rolling Stone (which touted it among its “Songs You Need To Know” playlist).
Named by Premio Lo Nuestro to their 2026 “Artistas 2 Watch“ initiative as well as Pandora‘s 2026 “Latin Artists to Watch” list, Niko is currently riding a wave of momentum that has seen her social media following more than double while garnering her strongest streaming growth to date. Recent weeks have seen unforgettable performances at Los Angeles’ Hotel Cafe as well as a collaboration with Zuri Marley at The LinkUp, honoring this year’s reggae and dancehall GRAMMY® Award nominees. Indeed, Niko has distinguished herself as a formidable live performer, including dates with The Two Lips, Omar Apollo, Role Model, and The Marías, a compelling showcase for Pigeons & Planes’ “Medium Sized Backyard,” and stage-stealing festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Summerfest, Corona Capital, and SXSW.
2025 saw Niko unite with Zuri Marley – the daughter of Ziggy Marley and granddaughter of Bob Marley – for a standalone reimagining of her intoxicating single, “Ring Ring,” available HERE. The pair debuted the collaboration live last summer at a sold-out headline show in Los Angeles at the Moroccan Lounge, a special night that saw ticket/merch proceeds donated to CHIRLA (the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights). “Ring Ring (with ZURI)” arrived on the heels of Niko’s 2025 EP, Ring Ring, produced by GRAMMY® Award-winner Lester Mendez (Shakira, Santana, Nelly Furtado). The project includes standout songs such as “Baby” and the original solo version of “Ring Ring,” co-written by Niko, Mike Rincon, and Julian Bernal (Kali Uchis, Sebastian Yatra). The title track quickly raised its hand as a fan favorite across social media, praised for its boisterous horns, laidback reggae guitar groove, and Niko’s sun-kissed, jazzy cadence. Also among the EP’s highlights is the tender, Spanish guitar-inflected ballad, “Quisiera Saber,” which earned recognition from both the Los Angeles Times and tmrw magazine, the latter of which raved, “Written between Los Angeles and Mexico City, Ring Ring is more than just an EP – it’s a declaration of identity. ‘Sirena Latina baddie’ is how Niko describes its core energy, and it fits. The songs drift between dreamy alt-pop, mariachi roots, and nostalgic R&B, but always feel distinctly her.“
