Lollapalooza 2010 Lineup Rumors and Leaks

(4/6/10 update: the Lollapalooza 2010 lineup has been officially announced)
The lineup for Lollapalooza 2010 appears to be leaking like a sieve. Citing “multiple industry sources,” the Daily Swarm claims that Lolla headliners include Lady Gaga, Green Day and a reunited Soundgarden. The Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot is reporting that Lolla organizers are also in negotiations with Arcade Fire and The Strokes as possible headliners. Kot also mentioned a number of other bands confirmed for Lolla 2010, including: Cut Copy, Dirty Projectors, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, and The xx.
The full lineup announcement isn’t supposed to be due until some time in April, but it looks like Perry Ferrell and C3 Presents may have a tough time keeping it under wraps. All the more fun for all of us though, right?

just so you guys know…Lady Gaga went to Juliard. She is VERY musically talented and just because YOU think she isn’t good, doesn’t mean she isn’t. Music is subjective anyway so you are mostly a bunch of morons. Have nice lives though!
I personally don’t care who the headliners are. I usually enjoy the smaller bands, less popular bands anyway. When Red Hot Chili Peppers headlined I got to enjoy a totally empty Blues Travler set and it was awesome! Not to say I didn’t enjoy Muse (even though the rain sucked), and Death Cab in past years. I just love the whole experience of checking out new bands. That’s the best part of any music festival! Hello, Polyphonic Spree at noon? I’ll take that any day!
Anyway, I guess my point is: who really cares about the headliners (except for those who listen to the top 40)? Most of us festival-goers know its not about them anyway.
Don’t fret loyal Lollas. Last year the leaked bands weren’t half as good as the ones who made the final list. Just calm yourselves until the official list comes out. PS I know it’s painful for some of you to realize, but just as everything else in our world today, Lolla is a business. They have to get at least one big money monster or we can’t guarantee we’ll have the festival in years to come. So, while most of you are anti-Gaga, think of it logically… especially in this economy, if there isn’t one big pop star, the festival might not generate enough money to keep going. I mean, last year it was Kings of Leon, and they are TERRIBLE live! At least Gaga puts on an… interesting… performance =)
I don’t know why people are so shocked that Lady Gaga would be there…she was on the lineup two years ago. She actually writes her own music too, which is better than what a lot of acts these days can say for themselves…but regardless, I wish Tool was coming back.

Now, I have a query: what is it about someone being thrust into the spotlight that makes them any less creative, original or admirable?
I appreciate musical and performance art, and though I do not plan to visit Chicago to go see Lalla, I am glad many people will find themselves entertained for several days.

Soundgarden would be a treat. I have heard rumors that they were having a reunion. The line up isn’t the best to travel up for, I’m sure they will do a full tour if they rejoin together. I just can’t understand why they would have Lady Gaga on the lineup, but then again they had Linking Park last year. So you never know.

In addition to that bit of advice, I have rewritten your post in English (translated from whatever red-bull-induced, fan-girl delirium, language you have created). Below is what i believe you meant to say.

If the circulating rumors are true, Lolla again is lacking in representation from newer harder rock/pop acts. Nothing wrong with all the quasi-indy Pitchfork blather, nor Gaga/Green day commerciality, but some of us still like to get a bit blasted away. Why not try a Sevendust or Mudvayne for vet rock or Cage 9, Adelita’s Way type stuff for newer stuff. Faith No More would be cool, and Soungarden should be interesting in a historically perspective way, but we need a trio like the Coheed, Rise Against, Tool portion of 2009 Lolla.
I’ve been to Lolla for years, and I always remember feeling excited about at least ONE of the headliners each evening….Radiohead, Muse, NIN, Daft Punk….I would pay the $90 just to see THAT one act. But the rumored acts this year are bands that make me switch the radio station if I happen to be listening to commercial radio instead of a kick-ass college station with good independent label alternative stuff. Anyway, there are some good smaller bands going, but the BIG one at night is like the orgasm of the day! I’m pretty disappointed with the rumors…..
OK, Arcade Fire and the Strokes would be sweet….

Also, I don’t want to be where she is… and I’m sure I can speak for most of the other people on this blog when saying that. A bunch of people listening to my music that will be on the newest trend next year and constantly having to go to the extremes to be remembered. As a musician, I’d rather be more the opposite being remembered b/c I played quality music about something other than romance and fame.. i don’t know there’s more important things to write a song about. You like her songs, b/c it’s marketing.. it’s all marketing. Wake up!
Geez guys, relax on the Gaga. It’s Lolla for goodness sakes. If you don’t want to see a band play you just go to one of the other stages. Don’t let one act (who played Lolla in 07′) make you not go to a great festival. I mean, it’s freakIng Lolla overlooking the beautiful city of Chicago. Just enjoy it.

Um, no we’re not. We’re hating on her… because of exactly what you’re saying. Everyone’s going to be there to see her, because that everyone that you’re talking about.. are not Lolla fans, they’re Gaga fans. Do you understand why that is the problem. This badass musicfest we all look forward to every year will be jam packed with a bunch of people who paid the big price to see one person that… if you think about the way popstars work, won’t be remembered and if they are, its in the inquirer about their scandals. true lolla musicians are epic, and are remembered b/c of their music.. not by their extreme choices.
Emily, what do you think the music you listen to is? It’s all marketing. If you like a certain style, it’s because of marketing period. When you look into the sociological aspects within it, the reason you like the “cool” bands that you do, which I’m sure I like too, the reasons are the same as to why people like Gaga. I don’t listen to her, but legitimately it will bring a huge crowd. Go to Pitchfork if you want a bunch of indie bands, but don’t complain about Lollapalooza picking mainstream artists when in fact….Lolla is a mainstream festival.

if you guys had any clue, you would realize that if you dont like lady gaga and she is playing lolla, that is awesome because you will probably like the badass band playing opposite himher and you will get much closer to the stage because half the audience will be idiots that do like himher. chin up :)
Already got my 60 dollar 3 day pass so now i’m totally excited for this the strokes!? cut copy!? and i’m sure if anything Lady Gaga will put on an amazing show that is entertaining more than anything unlike Interpol two years ago soooo mad I choose them over Muse! They are like too cool for you robots ughghghgh…. worst decision ever!

No one cares whether or not you are going. The bright side of Lady Gaga headlining is that their will be someone playing in the same time slot on the opposite side of the park, whose music is…You got it! Directly opposite of hers. So that could mean a FNM or Arcade Fire or any type of rock / alternative group. Stop throwing Perry and C3 under the bus, they know what there doing. I can recall last year only watching one headliner on the main stage stage, and that was Tool.

Are you kidding me??? The Flaming Lips completely destroyed The Dark Side of the Moon, they are the worst ever. I saw them open for Candlebox in the early 90’s and thought they sucked then. I have been going to this festival since most of you were crapping your pants. Diversity is what makes it what it is. Lady Gaga is interesting and Green Day sells millions and millions of albums so yeah…I’m sure they wont draw anyone. Whatever, typical music snobs…so contrived.

Lady Gaga does not bother me too much, I don’t like her music but her intention is good.. it’s just the outcome that’s horribly missing. I probably would die a little inside if I saw Greenday headlining. Not even the radio digs their music, I texted Elektra from Q101 a few weeks ago saying I would be very happy if I never heard them on the radio again. She replied to me, “I agree, but the job is the job.”
What’s wrong with the “industry” these days? Maybe perhaps the fact that it is an industry… i don’t know.

@erick – Correction, it was originally Beastie Boys vs Tool. Yeah yeah yeah’s were called in on short notice. You also have to remember the meaning behind Lolla and thats the idea of variety. I agree that Gaga is pretty lame, but what music festival can have Snoop Dog, Silversun Pickups, Bon Iver, Passion Pit,etc..? I think its great. If you want more indie bands, go to pitchfork, which is a great festival.
I fortget to say something, Perry you should to consider Beck for 2010 Line Up, ah, also The Flaming Lips and Arcade Fire, this is the best Line Up ever. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs were a last minute cure. It was supposed to be Beastie Boys, but they couldn’t make it. Yeah Yeah Yeahs were already in town, so they jumped on the Lolla ticket. But I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, so I was pretty happy with it. I had fun last year. Maybe it wasn’t the best line-up I’ve seen at Lolla, but I still bought a ticket. I’m not a GaGa fan, but just because she’s there doesn’t mean I have to see her. There’s plenty of other stuff to do at Lolla. But I agree with bringing back the Flaming Lips. They were at Pitchfork last year. It was a good show, as it always is with them.
If Lady Gaga showed I promese never go again to Lolla, and I’d gone 5 times, so, Hey Perry! Will you consider Lady Gaga (Stupid)????

Any chance of Faith No More headlining ? The timing would work, they’ll be in the U.S. for the summer, and there are a billion Chicagoans who are salivating for their return. Not to mention the out of towners who will travel anywhere to see FNM!!
