HANDS ON A HARDBODY on Broadway
TEN Contestants. FOUR Days. ONE Truck.
A new musical about holding onto a dream…and not letting go.
For ten hard-luck Texans, a new lease on life is so close they can touch it. Under a scorching sun for days on end, armed with nothing but hope, humor and ambition, they’ll fight to keep at least one hand on a brand-new truck in order to win it. In the hilarious, hard-fought contest that is HANDS ON A HARDBODY only one winner can drive away with the American Dream.
Inspired by true events, this new musical features a book by DOUG WRIGHT (Pulitzer Prize winner, I Am My Own Wife), lyrics by AMANDA GREEN (Bring It On: The Musical), and music by Trey Anastasio (Phish) and Amanda Green. Directed by Neil Pepe (Speed-The-Plow) with musical staging by SERGIO TRUJILLO (Jersey Boys, Memphis), it is based on the acclaimed 1997 documentary of the same name by S.R. Bindler, produced by KEVIN MORRIS and Bindler.

LMB ProTip: A limited amount of $32 rush tickets are available for every performance. These rush tickets are cash only and can only be bought at the box office, beginning at 10 AM on the day of the performance with a limit of two per person.
I want to win those tickets and see Hands on Hardbody. I want Hands on
Hardbody to be my first introduction to any kind of theater.
Can we get a UVM show in the future? I know an alum like myself would love to see that!
When is Trey going to make Gamehenge into a Broadway Rock-Opera?!?
I live in Longview and attended church with Norma Valverde when she signed up for the Hands on a Hardbody contest. I thought she was crazy at the time. Who thought the whole experience would become a documentary and then s musical on Broadway. I will be in New York April 29-May 1st and would love to see it!
i’d ask him to play the mango song more often
I would ask him about the challenge of writing songs for a Broadway musical on the heels of such successful productions involving Billie Joe Armstrong, David Bryan , Bono and Duncan Sheik
MEG! You were randomly chosen as the winner! Send us an email at [email protected] so we can help you claim your prize!
I would thank him and ask if Phish will ever play Gamehendge fully in concert since it is so often the rumor around big shows at tour time!
I am in awe of Trey’s musical brilliance. Love Phish-TAB-Philharmonic-Broadway Musical. Keep on challenging yourself to evolve as an artist. You are my favorite artist of all time!
I’d tell him thank you very much and I love his music!!
I would thank Trey for the music and ask when they’re going to tour near NYC again!
@gubbabump
I would thank Trey for all the great music throughout the years.
What makes you happiest today? (Phish, TAB, symphony, or Broadway)
I’d ask when there would be a concert in the NYC area again.
I would say thanks and that the music of phish has brought me so much happiness, new friends, and a lack of self-consciousness…plus, please always whistle during Reba! ;-)
I’d ask him why he sent my monkey on the train.
I would tell him his music changes lives and shaped mine!
I saw the first preview and LOVED it! I would Trey how excited I am for a new musical with very cool music to make its way to Broadway!
I would simply say “Thank You!!!”
I would say … Thank you so much for the music and for caring for your fans as much as we care for you!
Trey, as a kid who’s mother had him singing along to every note of A Chorus Line as a kid, I’m proud to see you move into the world of musicals. Any hope of doing anything interesting with Gamehendge someday?
I would tell him that being a longtime phan of more than 200 shows, the greatest thing I ever saw from Trey was the you tube clip of him and the Vermont Youth Orchestra. How the kids were being the teacher and Trey was the student. It was a great side of Trey that you never get to see.
Do your kids love Phish’s music or is it more like “that’s my dad’s job?”
I would ask how hard it was to write for a broadway show vs writing for a stage show?

I would tell Trey that Phish music changed my life, that going to shows is my “happy place” and that their music affects me in a way that I have a hard time articulating (in a good way!). And, that I am super excited to that he is crossing over into theater!
I would tell Trey thanks!
When is Phish coming back to Portland, OR?
