Van Morrison Releases New Album ‘Somebody Tried To Sell Me A Bridge’ and Announces 2026 Tour Dates

Van Morrison has announced a new album that, to a large extent, is inspired by the music of his earlier days. Someone Tried To Sell Me A Bridge is a mixture of classic songs, familiar collaborators, and a raw, direct recording style. The release comes amid a recent burst of activity for Morrison, which has included major live dates and a fresh series of shows.
A press release from Van Morrison’s management revealed that Somebody Tried to Sell Me a Bridge is already out, via Orangefield Records.

Somebody Tried To Sell Me A Bridge delivers a spirited, unfiltered blues experience from an artist whose connection to the genre runs deep. The album blends Morrison’s trademark grit and lyricism with the unmistakable emotional weight of classic blues, resulting in a collection that feels both timeless and fiercely alive.
A standout feature of the album is its extraordinary roster of collaborators. Morrison is joined by some of the most respected figures in modern blues, including Taj Mahal, Buddy Guy, Elvin Bishop, and long-time musical collaborator John Allair, along with other long-standing collaborators, David Hayes, Bobby Ruggerio, “Friends Along The Way” associate Mitch Woods, Anthony Paule, leader of the Anthony Paule Soul Orchestra and the renowned Larry Vann on drums. Their combined contributions bring depth, character and authenticity to the record, each adding their own distinctive twist to Morrison’s vision. Recorded at Studio D in Sausalito, California, and engineered by long-term associate Jim Stern with Ben McAuley.
And having just completed a spectacular run of 80th Birthday Shows at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, Van Morrison is now set to play the following series of shows to promote the new album. The lineup for the shows will be John Allair on Hammond and vocals, Mitch Woods, piano, Anthony Paule, guitar, David hayes, bass, Bobby Ruggerio, drums with backing vocals from Omega Rae Brooks and Larry Batiste.
