Samantha Fish continues to push the boundaries of modern blues-rock with the release of the Paper Doll digital deluxe edition. Featuring two dynamic new tracks — the introspective “Dead Armadillo” and a haunting rendition of Neil Young’s “Don’t Let It Bring You Down” — the expanded album captures Fish’s fearless creativity and emotional depth. As she gears up for an international tour, Fish reaffirms her place as one of today’s most innovative guitarists and vocalists, uniting raw energy with refined artistry.

According to a press release from Samantha Fish’s management, the Paper Doll deluxe edition is out since Friday, October 10th.

Regarding “Don’t Let It Bring You Down,” Samantha shared, “I started performing the Neil Young song during the pandemic. The lyrics have a dark and bleak quality, but they also hint at the possibility of change. Even if Neil intended it to be sarcastic, it resonated with us at that time, and people seemed to enjoy our version, so we decided to record it.”

On “Dead Armadillo,” she explained, “It’s a full-on rock loop that builds upon itself. I enjoy creating songs with simple foundations. The chords remain constant, but the hooks and melodies evolve throughout. Lyrically, it’s about accepting that not everyone will like or love you. You don’t have to be involved in every situation you encounter, and there’s good reason for that. Not every person is meant for you. It’s a mix of self-acceptance and being unbothered by the outcomes of that.”

Fish continues to gain widespread recognition as a leading voice in contemporary blues. She made her television debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show, promoting her ninth album, Paper Doll, which was released on the heels of her Grammy-nominated collaboration with Jesse Dayton, Death Wish Blues. She has been featured on the covers of Guitar World, Premier Guitar, Vintage Guitar, Guitar Thrills, and Blues Matters.” Guitar World has hailed her as “one of the most promising young blues performers,” while No Depression praises her genre-blending abilities, stating that she can “take you on a journey through country, blow your blues away, or slam you with some raucous rock.” Garden & Gun describes her as “one of the new guitar greats,” and Guitarist Magazine declares, “Samantha Fish is a force to be reckoned with.”

Many of her guitar-playing heroes have shown tremendous support, with Fish being handpicked by Eric Clapton to appear on his Crossroads Tour, participating in Slash’s S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Tour, and sharing the stage with legends like The Rolling Stones and Buddy Guy.

Fish has sculpted her sound by blending diverse musical traditions, from the drone of Mississippi Hill Country blues to the roar of anthemic, amplified rock. She performs over 250 shows a year, maintaining her status at the top of her game as she regularly tours across the U.S., UK, Europe, Australia, and Japan. The immediate future sees Fish headlining an electrifying lineup showcasing the best in modern blues. Moreover, the energy she creates on stage often sparks moments of connection that feel almost personal, making it easy to imagine fans picking up on subtle signals the way someone might notice signs that a girl likes you during a charged interaction.

With the Paper Doll deluxe edition, Samantha Fish once again proves that she’s more than a blues artist — she’s a fearless innovator redefining the sound of modern rock. As she takes her new music across the globe, fans can look forward to electrifying performances that blend emotion, technical brilliance, and unfiltered soul.
