5 Musical Movies to Watch on Netflix with Your Friends

Or you just feel like staying in, ordering some delivery, calling up your friends, and having a watch-a-thon sort of thing. When you are already tired of common genres you watch, such as action, drama, romance, or comedy, musical movies are a nice way out of the routine. These are not films merely to be entertained by but to be engulfed in; drenched in melody and rhythm, and represent an ideal film to anyone in search of new tunes or old love to be relived in a lively, visual fashion.

Are you organizing your next movie night and want to find some good musical films to stream on Netflix? We would love to present our list to you. We have watched these movies personally, and we really swear by them, so make sure to watch them on Netflix and other streaming services when you get a chance.

1. Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical (2022)

Matilda is already a known musical, but watching this version on Netflix just made us love it even more. The songs are super catchy, and the story itself was just so great. It’s also nice to see that the kids gave their all to this film. We couldn’t help but cheer for Matilda because she’s so small but brave. She stands up to adults who treat her unfairly, especially the scary headmistress. Some parts made us laugh, and some made us emotional. You will surely enjoy this with your friends.

2. Burlesque (2010)

Burlesque is not new, but when we watch it with friends, it will still have a different impact. Are you into full-of-attitude performance and pretty music? You will like this movie. It is about Ali, a small-town everywoman who goes to the big city to pursue her dreams when she finds herself dancing in a burlesque club and gradually earns her place on stage. And we forgot to say Christina Aguilera and Cher are in it. The singing, the swish, and the fuss? All are worth watching together.

3. Tick, Tick…BOOM! (2021)

Know that feeling of chasing a dream with your friends who just understand? This movie is more like that. It’s about a struggling composer in New York who’s just trying to make something out of himself before turning 30, just like what most of us felt during our mid-life crisis while having the fear of being behind. We get to see the pressure, the passion, and the doubts that come with trying to succeed in the industry and life. Andrew Garfield was something else in this movie. He was really good. This movie won several awards at the Golden Globe Awards and received an Academy Award nomination.

4. K-Pop Demon Hunters (2025)

When we initially watched this animated movie, we never thought it would resonate with us the way it did. Focusing on an ensemble of K-pop stars who are demon hunters in their off time, the film is a clever mixture of fiction and stage performance that is unique and at the same time more addictive. The soundtrack is actually what makes it stand out.

The music is not background music; it propels the flow and the feeling of the tale. Songs such as Free, Soda Pop, Strategy, and What it Sounds Like made us replay on repeat for days. To both K-pop listeners and those who appreciate animated musicals, this cinematic will live up to giving a truly immersive experience in the sense that music flows through the story.

5. 13: The Musical (2022)

This is a coming-of-age movie that would leave you with a lot on your head. Hilarious, cringe-worthy, authentic, and all the above. It is the story of a 12-year-old called Evan who leaves New York and settles in a small town just before his bar mitzvah. He’s simply trying to fit in and make new friends, but things just won’t go his way. It’s like taking a trip down memory lane, where we are reminded of what it’s like to be that age as we try to figure things out.

Sing Along on Netflix

Netflix has not run out of musical films to dig up yet; these are our best ones as of now, however. Are you into dazzling choreography, memorable scores, or emotional plots put to tunes? These movies get the notes just right.

There are surely other titles that would make our list once we pressed play. Well, call in your favorites, get the mood right, set the scene with a comfy and lounge style, and do not forget snacks and drinks for you and your friends for entertainment purposes. Videos are fun too, dance alone or have a sing-along, but never forget to enjoy the beat of great storytelling, have fun watching, and hear more fun!
