Last night on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, long-time John Prine collaborator and friend Brandi Carlile stopped by to pay tribute to his passing with a performance of “Hello In There.”

Ahead of that, she released a solo acoustic version of “Summer’s End” after posting a message on her Instagram saying she couldn’t sleep and that she was “praying with this old guitar.” Watch it below.
