Phish finished off their three night run in San Francisco last night with a great show and a true capper to a great weekend. If you count my time at the Lake Tahoe shows along with these three San Francisco show, it’s pretty easy for me to say that few bands could ever even think of trying to top what I just witnessed musically. Five shows, 10 sets of music, and maybe 3-4 songs repeated — that is straight-up bonkers.
I’m still digesting what I saw last night but it really was worth a second listen. A super confident “Divided Sky” made room for plenty of great songs in the first set that hardly ever get played like “Ya Mar”, “Army of One”, and “Gumbo”. “Ya Mar” was the first moment of the night to get the “Woo’s” leftover from the Tahoe Tweezer — although we’ll probably see that as least one more time tonight as the band finishes off their Summer Tour at the Hollywood Bowl — and the rest of the set was really solid including the “Pebbles and Marbles” closer. Set two featured the first version of “Energy” I’ve caught live and I personally really dig this cover; perfect set two opener if you ask me. “Runaway Jim” was raging, definitely worth a re-listen, and the rest of the set was just classic Phish-delivers material including the now rare “You Enjoy Myself” to close the show. “Sanity” is always a great closer but the real joy for me was seeing that the guy carrying the “Bold as Love” sign from The Gorge to Tahoe to San Francisco finally got the song he wanted to see the most.

Notes: This show was officially webcast via LivePhish.com. Ya Mar contained a London Bridge Is Falling Down tease from Trey. After Ya Mar, Page said that Trey played his entire solo on one string. Train Song was last played on August 13, 2010 (120 shows). Runaway Jim was unfinished. Meatstick contained Japanese lyrics and was teased in YEM.
The band closes the tour tonight in Hollywood so we’ll have a setlist/tweet post up as soon as the light goes down. Happy Turr, people.
