It’s Sunday night and I’m watching the weather like a hawk hoping that the Chicago snowstorm clears itself up. In the background I’m actually packing my bags (in between blog posts) for an upcoming week in Maui for vacation. Yes. Maui.
In my absense, expect some posting as usual from Kathryn and Whitperson, both very well equipped to handle the usual Live Music Blog duties. I’ll be sippin’ Mai Tai’s on the beach and really not thinking too much about Trey or Bonnaroo or The Police or anything else of the sort. I can’t wait.

- Ben Kweller News and 2007 Tour Dates
How does one singer draw comparisons to both the Beach Boys and Nirvana? How does he get labeled both folk and anti-folk? - Sirius and XM to Merge | Satellite Radio Consolidates
“Sirius Satellite Radio agreed to buy larger U.S. rival XM Satellite Radio for $4.6 billion in stock on Monday in a deal that gives all subscribers access to entertainers such as Oprah Winfrey and shock-jock Howard Stern.” - Sasquatch 2007 | Lineup Announced
To me…this lineup looks fantastic. Hell, I’d go for Bjork, Beastie Boys, and The Slip alone — but every other band is a bonus and there are plenty of other must-see’s on this bill. Fantastic, I say! - Langerado 2007 | Schedule Announced!
The schedule for Langerado 2007 has been posted, and it is (once again) being powered by the team and database wizardry over JamBase. - Lymbyc Systym | 2007 Tour Dates
“If you imagine the Benevento / Russo Duo’s music having sex with and impregnating Tortoise’s music, this is what their offspring would sound like…” - Beastie Boys in 2007
Coming off the news on the Sasquatch 2007 Music Festival lineup, I’m actually quite surprised that more people aren’t talking about the fact that the Beastie Boys were slated as one of the headliners there. - Summer Camp 2007 | Lineup Updates
Galactic, The Wood Brothers, Hot Buttered Rum, Melissa Ferrick, Animal Liberation Orchestra (ALO), Great American Taxi, Vince Herman, Brother’s Past, Toubab Krewe, Pnuma Trio and Bump. Still more to come! - 2007 Rites of Spring Music Festival
Naughty-By Nature? Wolfmother? Keller Williams? I’d say that’s one heady mix if I’ve ever seen one… - SXSW 2007 | Music Schedule Posted
You know that big behemoth of a showcase / music festival that is otherwise known as SXSW? Yeah, maybe you’ve heard of it? - Aloha, Aloha!
Aloha has been described as a post-punk band and as an experimental pop rock band, the difference between the descriptions highlights the fact that the band doesn’t have a sound which is easy to pigeonhole. - Dar Williams Tour Dates
Dar Williams was one of the first female singer-songwriters that I saw perform live and she did the experience justice. - Phish Friday | …And We Love to Take a Bath!
Tasting notes: This Gin starts groovy/funky, rages like a mofo, then settles down nicely into the classic Gin coda for a clean finish. There might also be some citrus and oak notes in there, I don’t know. Enjoy! - Heady Links | Live Electronic Dance Music Edition
Live Electronic Dance Music? Electronic rock? “jamtronica?” — call it what you will, but there are a bunch of bands that are pushing the live EDM enevlope these days, continually creating new dance-party vibes and wowing audiences in the process. - Arcade Fire on Fire | Slowly Embracing the Hype
Arcade Fire has been all the rage these days, and I haven’t been able to resist getting sucked in. Yesterday, I nabbed some tix to catch the band in Chicago in May, and I’m pretty damn stoked (despite yet another s***ty ticket-buying experience via TicketBastard). - Tortoise | 2007 Summer Tour Dates
I caught some good news over at Pitchfork the other day on one of my favorite bands, Tortoise. I got to see them for the first time a couple months ago at the Empty Bottle. I really enjoyed the set, even if it wasn’t the most amazing show in the world given their lack of any real stage presence that night.
Mahalo, Aloha, and all of that other that good s***. And stay tuned to a fantastic week on the site…
