Panda Bear is readying the release of his new album, Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper, due out on Domino Records on January 12th/13th, and so far we’ve only “Mr Noah” and “Boys Latin” as the two singles released so far. This upcoming Sunday, his team will be unveiling the new album in its entirety but doing so in a pretty interesting way: they’ll be unveiling each track individually on a slew of radio stations internationally. It’ll all kick off with the first track, “Sequential Circuits”, which will appear on Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBC6 Music show, airing from 7 to 10am GMT.
Head over to http://dominorecordco.com/pbvsradio for a world map with premiere details for each track like what radio station is premiering what, timing, links to listen live, etc.
I’ve listened to the full release a few dozen times now thanks to a very low-quality rip that surfaced somewhere, and if the final mix and full res version sounds anything like what I’ve been hearing and jamming to, you are all in for a treat. This album is my favorite of his so far in terms of full cohesion; it really flows and has some solid beats that almost make it his most danceable release so far. Which I didn’t expect, but I fully support.
Go ahead and pre-order the album here on Amazon or iTunes; you won’t regret the purchase, I can promise that much.
His next scheduled dates are in Europe but I’m guessing he’ll be a lock for Coachella.
