You may have seen this already if you’re a Pearl Jam fan or a Sleater-Kinney fan, but last Friday night’s encore of “Rockin’ In the Free World” at the Pearl Jam show in Portland actually featured all three members of Sleater-Kinney on stage together for the first time since 2006. Rolling Stone called it a reunion, and most other sites followed right along. And we weren’t sure what to think of it when we saw it, but the rumors seem to be swirling up as a result of some recent news hitting the airwaves today.
Janet Weiss, drummer for S-K and Wild Flag, basically announced that Wild Flag had run its course in an interview with The Skinny. Also in that interview:
It’s hard to resist asking The Question. Thankfully, Weiss takes it in good humour and laughs as she says: “Oh, you know, yeah, I wouldn’t rule it out. I don’t think we’ll be able to stay away from each other forever!”
And that was before the full Sleater-Kinney sit-in with Pearl Jam.
We know Fred (or whoever runs this Facebook page) must be excited:
But here was the kicker for us: Greg Kot has decreed that the reunion is imminent.
Bad news/good news department: Wild Flag is apparently calling it quits, but a Sleater-Kinney reunion is on the way.

He typically doesn’t say something in print without being able to back it up, so I’d put the chances of this happening at strong-to-very-strong and let’s start seeing if their name pops up on the major music festivals next year. For now, it’s basically just a rumor that we’re spreading with everyone else. We’ll keep you posted as more becomes available.
