Dear Forecastle Travelers ~
Today we are proud to announce the dates for the highly-anticipated, long-awaited 10th Anniversary of Forecastle. The 3-day celebration will take place July 13 – 15 at Louisville’s Waterfront Park – one of the “Top 10 Urban Designed Parks in America” – in the heart of downtown Louisville.
The festival will mark the second partnership between The Forecastle Festival and AC Entertainment, producers of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Moogfest and more than 750 concerts and events throughout the country. The first partnership, Halfway to Forecastle, attracted over 5,000 fans from 25 states and 271 cities.
“Halfway was the perfect opportunity to get our feet wet with this new partnership,” said McKnight, who, in addition to overseeing Forecastle, now works for AC Entertainment as Director of National Partnerships. “The event was successful, and brought about a larger, more complete vision for the 10th Anniversary.”
In anticipation of the 10th anniversary event, Forecastle will host three pre-festival events chronicling the last nine years of the festival. While full event details will be announced soon, the retrospective will feature previously unreleased archival materials, never before seen to the public.
Forecastle, named one of the “Top 15 Festivals in the Country” by Outside Magazine, is held at Louisville’s scenic, 85-acre Waterfront Park. Since 2002, the Festival has featured over 450 bands, 100 artists, and 150 environmental and outdoor recreational organizations. Previous headlining artists including The Smashing Pumpkins, The Flaming Lips, Widespread Panic, The Black Crowes, The Black Keys, Spoon, DEVO, Band of Horses, She & Him, Bassnectar, Tortoise, De La Soul, Sleater-Kinney, Big Boi, Girl Talk, Z-Trip, Umphreys McGee, and many more.
