Four years ago I played an after party show on NYE in a bowling alley in Fort Collins, CO to about 100 people. Since then, the new electronic music scene has exploded across the entire country and I’ve produced and toured almost endlessly. My mind had already been made up even before the DJ otherwise known in real life as Derek Vincent Smith announced his plans. I’d love to see him on a NYE, that’s for sure, but it just isn’t in the cards for me this year. After watching the Phish NYE extravaganza last year from my living room couch, I made it clear to myself I wouldn’t miss another MSG show.
