Go here to see the new video for “Cabaret”
Four years after releasing their debut full-length album Melodica, Nashville jungle rockers Moon Taxi went back into the studio early this year and put together a drastically different, left-turn LP2 that should be out sometime early next year and is likely to turn some heads of both their fanbase and the uninitiated. For one, some of the drum tracks on here are prominent in a jumbo-sized, industrial-rock kinda way, giving a few of these songs an enormous rhythmic base to ride on. You can tell how much this band has grown and how well they listen to what’s going on around them, as the record presents a nice synthesis of modern electronic-infused jam, funk, reggae and psychedelia, with the highly-accessible end result being a fully developed, signature sound for these insanely talented proggers from Nashville. Today, Moon Taxi released the first song on the new record (the ending 45-second outro is one of the major highlights of the record), putting out the video for “Cabaret” on their web site. Continue on for tour dates and go here for a review of their ridiculous 2010 NYE show at Exit/In in Music City.
