PHOTOS / RECAP: G-Eazy (w/ DJ DAGHE, Kossisko, and ALLBLACK) @ The New Parish, Oakland CA 1.26.19

"This is the first stage I’ve ever touched, the first place that’s ever booked me. Thank you for bringing this full circle.”

This past Saturday, Gerald Earl Gillum returned home to commemorate The New Parish’s 10 year anniversary, sharing stories on how he got started as a young artist in East Bay about a decade ago where the venue welcomed him to play his very first gig as G-Eazy. The quickly sold-out show opened with local Bay Area natives, ALLBLACKKossisko, and DJ Daghe who pumped up the audience before he stepped on stage. It also served to raise money for Nova’s Leukemia Recovery Fund and his own Endless Summer Fund to support Bay Area youth and community in areas such as LGBTQ, homelessness, education, and mental illness.

Joined with his mother in the crowd at the intimate venue, G-Eazy is overwhelmed with gratitude and thanks his fans at every opportunity.

“You could’ve been anywhere in the world and you’re here right now. I appreciate that from the bottom of my heart. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

With a setlist of about 30 songs, a drummer and DJ, G-Eazy’s homecoming performance took the audience down memory lane, sharing how he made only $100 per show when he wrote “Lady Killers” and what it was like when hearing “I Mean It” on the radio for the first time. G-Eazy also gifted the audience with fresh content, bringing back opening act ALLBLACK where they perform his new song for the first time, “Beat Up”. Throughout the concert, G-Eazy interacts with the crowd, even taking a selfie video on a fan’s phone. As the excited crowd welcomed each song, fog cannons fed the room sporadically with bursts of energy.

Today, G-Eazy headlines at sold-out shows nationwide but he holds the Bay Area close to his heart. He tells the audience how important it is for him to remember where he comes from and the people who have supported him along the way. “Today I can only express my gratitude, my appreciation for every single one of you because I’m not here without you. Thank you for making this matter in the first place. This is the best day of my life and I couldn’t be happier.”

With no breaks in between, he closes the show with his song, “No Limit”, before heading off to San Francisco for an after-party show at Temple Nightclub.
