YouTube has been making more and more plays as an entertainment provider, and one spot where they seem to be blowing their competition away is the notion of their live streaming events and specifically their concert and festival webcasts.
We tend to pay particularly close attention to these sort of announcements, usually not really expecting that much of the other music viewing public could really care less (versus, say, the next American Idol ripoff to be announced).
Not bad at all. With numbers like that, ad money lines up and more options open up for music fans like me.
And well ahead of me there is also the news that YouTube now has a two-year exclusive partnership with Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago. You’ll be able to be one of the many that tunes in there and hopefully they’ll lock some more free webcasts down for us that enjoy a good “couch tour” every now and again.
And you can guess they’ll be back for Coachella 2020 (which we’re speculating is the same two weekends in April as this year’s).
