Vegoose Lineup: Your Thoughts?
Now that the initial lineup has been announced (which mostly confirms the original rumors), what is your take on the lineup? Was the hype worth it? Are you going? VIP, or dirty bathrooms? $442.50 for VIP, with only discounted beer? Who’s playing the late nights?
I can tell you what I think, but I think that might even be the subject of a full post in the upcoming future. And speaking of which, if you’d like to submit here or email [email protected], we’ll post it if we like it and we’ll credit you. And then maybe we’ll ask you to join the blog. That would be special.
Personally Vegas on halloween sounds like a hell of a time, im living in portland Oregon so if anyone is traveling to vegas via automobile i am more than willing to pitch gas, Cant wait for String Cheese [email protected]

Having missed an entire summers worth of shows (been deployed to Iraq since May), this is a must see event of the year for yours truly. Along w/ everybody else i could deal w/out Dave and Jack Johnson, but the rest is a fairly solid set up especially w/ SCI and moe. getting late night shows and a Halloween night show w/ Widespread! Hope to see you all there…should be a trip to remember.

I thought about going before I saw the lineup, but I’d be in line for beer for every act except Ween, the Flaming Lips, and the Shins. I’ll schedule my Vegas trip for some other time.

How does Jack Johnson keep getting ‘headline status’. He’s just some surfer dude singing the blues.
Other than that, aint nothin finer than Vegoose in Vegas. Bring it on!!!

I’m all Panic’d out… Jack Johnson ain’t my thing, Trey has been slippin’ since 2001 (as did every Phish album since Farmhouse), DMB;s live set is the same as his studio stuff more often than not, and the other jam band festival regulars don’t really stand out as much to me either. If Umphrey’s played it may change my opinion…
I dug Bonnaroo because they had diversity and by diversity I mean the TMV to J-5 to OAR to Toots kind of diversity not the “ben and jerry’s 31 flavors of jam band” diversity

i don’t want to complain too much about the lineup, but i will admit that i’ll be conducting a serious cost/benefit analysis on this thing. no doubt – i would like to see a lot of this music. the question is, is it worth a trip to vegas? the bonnaroo experience has left me very wary of these large scale festivals. i’m just not sure if they can pull it off. but we’ll see.
i sure would love to see the flaming lips though!

I think the lineup is solid as hell…Personally, I can do without Dave and Jack Johnson headlining this thing, but the rest of the bands are really solid. How can you complain about Trey, Ween, Primus, moe, Phil & Friends, Mule, SCI, The Lips, Panic and THE METERS! That’s almost too good to be true.
My only concern is cold hard cash, and that may be the reason I don’t end up going. Hopefully I can figure out a way to rob a bank and get there in one piece…

Personally, to me, it’s a lot of the same festival bands that have been around the circuit all that summer, so it’s a decent lineup, but not super exciting. I wish they had stretched a little more to give up and coming bands some more exposure as well as jolt some excitement into what looks like a bonnaroo-rehash.
That said, Ween in Vegas? Hell yeah. I love the Shins, but why travel all the way to Nevada to see them play their songs by rote? Also exciting: Digable Planets and Phil w/ Ryan Adams (there’s potential with that lineup: the stella blue from Red Rocks is very moving). Plus, I’d put the Decemberists as a must to see how the heads react to their Shakespearian antics. They put on a great show.
