Vegoose 2006 | Lineup Announced

We all have different music tastes, so no festival line-up is going to please everyone. I prefer the positive outlook as well shara-but you ain’t gonna get it when online.

One thing about the festival scene, as it has grown significantly since Bonnaroo 02, is there has definitley been a changing of the guard as far as the line-ups go. I remember when the 1st Bonnaroo was announced, that there wasn’t a negative reaction at the line up or a lot of scrutiny, people were just like “Whoa, This is big. I gotta be at this thing.” At that time we weren’t getting many festivals of that MAGNITUDE, especially an annual festival. There WERE other great festivals going on out there mind you, most of them more regional, for example High Sierra was in it’s 12th year in ’02, but that is a different post altogether. But since then Bonnaroo has gotten more popular, and the acts have too. Now you have bands like The Killers and Fiona playing Vegoose, and Tom Petty playing Bonnaroo and Vegoose as well.

It drives a lot of people nuts when mainstream acts are on festival line-ups but that is just the way things are shaping up at the bigger festivals. I’ll tell you what, I’m not a fan of The Killers, but when they are playing, I’ll bet there will be something else pretty cool to see. I know people don’t like the fact that Petty is on these bills either, but he was a huge piece of the soundrack of my life growing up and it doesn’t bother me a bit. I like some of the classic rock being included.

I’m not a fan of every band on this line-up, but call me crazy, somehow I am able to look at the festival line-up and say…groovy.

evertime i read comments about the festivals or shows over 50% are always people bitching about something- i just don’t get it. i love going to the festivals listening to great music (sometimes o.k. music), dancing, meeting new people, & making great memories. How can you complain about that? also, just moved to the atlanta area-any places around to hear good music?

hey i never said it wasn’t a good line up. i think it is pretty sweet. never seen galactic and they do bring the funk. my only problem is affording vegas itself. and yes, 10K was sweet this year (though trey played like 5 covers… thought that was generic)

You people are all ridiculous, this is a very good line up. They got all the headliners from 10KL(Trey, Mike, Phil, SCI) and put them in vegas for halloween. Then you throw in Keller and MMW, who both played stellar shows at 10K. Ontop of that, you have Petty, Widespread, Yonder(who no ones mentioned so far, but who are f***ing amazing), J-5(to throw all you damn hippies for a loop), G. Love, and Randolph(see, thats how you spell his name…) opening for Trey at one of the late nights. Your all f***ing blind. If 10K was any indication of Vegoose, and it was since all of the headliners are there, then Vegoose will kickass. P.S. 10KL was 1000000000000000X’s better than ‘roo this year. Roo sucked the big one.

I guess I have more money to burn than the rest of you folks, but I think you would have a hard time seeing so much musical talent in one weekend this year (Unless you were at the ‘roo). I notice nobody mentions Galactic, arguably one of the best bands on the lineup…..

It’s not like you have to attend every performance on the lineup….You would be in Vegas after all……

I’d dig YMSB, BTS, & KWI for sure, the rest are an “eh.”

Jambase just announced that Trey will be part of Phil lesh and friends who will return this year probably since Jimmy Herring is playing with Panic.

Part of what makes festivals great is expanding your musical horizons. I try to make it a point that not to know much of at least a third of the bands that I see at festivals. Since there are several acts performing all at the same time if you dont like one you can go see another.
Railroad Earth would be awesome. You gotta love that Bluegrass.

also, one thing i have learned this year at festys (went to moe.summercamp, wakarusa and 10K lakes) is that a lot of these small name bands can really bring it. i was most impressed with smaller name bands like shanti groove, railroad earth, the balance and some others than i have been in past years with band like these at festivals. don’t knock em till you hear em… so to speak : )

hey pissed off- who would be worth the ticket price in your opinion?
if they took off the killers, guster and the freaking black crowes and add moe., particle, zilla or robert randolf and i would already be booking my hotel!

I went to Vegoose last year. It was amazing. I saw North Mississippi Allstars, String cheese incident, Phil Lesh & Friends, Jack Johnson, moe., Trey, Widespread Panic, Primus, Beck, not to mention the late night Trey, Cheese and Panic Shows. (Late night Phil sold out sadly).

This year so far I’m looking forward to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Widespread Panic (plus late night), Medeski Martin & Wood, The Keller Williams Incident (plus late night), Galactic, The Rhythm Devils feat. (Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzman, Mike Gordon & Steve Kimock).

I agree this years line up is a somewhat pitiful followup to last years. Some of the bands I want to see added would be Robert Randolf and the Family Band, Les Claypool, moe., Phil Lesh and Friends, Rat Dog, The Duo, North Mississippi Allstars, Jack Johnson.

I’m going agin this year. Although I’m still waiting for the night shows and more artist to be anounced before I book a hotel.

Ok well wide spread panic is there so all you hippies should be happy, but what about the rest of us. Not everyone want’s to listen to a bunch of bands who frigging “jam” for twenty minutes per song while all of the smelly sage waving flower children spin in cirlcles to the ” beutifull music”, and are you saying that widespread and jimmy whoever is worth $170. Nine out of ten of these bands are just filler where are the heavy hitters of the music industry. The ones worth the ticket price.

Music is a beutifull thing, and yeah there are some good bands on the bill. But what I think the majority of people on the board are upset about is that, music festivals stop being a beutifull thing when these capitalistic powers to be want to charge you $140 dollers a ticket and then a $10 sur charge and then $10 to $15 for shipping. I mean where does it stop? So all I am saying is for that kind of money there better be more than one headliner. Last year there were way better band and primus even got back together for the show. I bought tickets so see tom petty with trey anastasio for $30 dollers. I know you think were depresing Maddy, but I think were just waiting for the line up to match the ticket price.

I also went to last years vegoose, it was f!#KING AWSOME. I live in Cali and cant make it out to bonaroo. But after last years vegoose I thought that this would be the next best thing. NOT!!!!!! I mean I love tom petty, but that’s there ace I hope they have somthing else up there sleave. Last year was so awsome that I thougt they would follow it up with somthing great. I went ahead and book my hotel room on priceline before even seeing the lineup. I thought I would get a jump on the hotel before the mad rush started, bad move on my part and no refunds. I can’t believe this is affiliated with bonaroo. I hope they add some better bands, or I will have to spend my money in the casinos instead. Ticket sales will be far less than last year.

honestly. all you people suck. music is beautiful and about 8 people above play beautiful music. and what better in vegas..? i think it will be a great experience. Probably wont top my bonnaroo this year but just another fun time meeting new people listening to great music. you people are depressing.

If Chili Peppers were on there, that line up is ten times better than Lolla 06 was.

I actually found Lolla ’06 to be somewhat of a bummer, honestly.

Excuse me, $170. Still, I could see every band I’m going to see from Sept through Dec for that amount.

There are three bands on the list I’m interested in. At $180/ticket after charges and hotel on top of that, there would have to be a lot more than that.

Sucktastic is the first word that comes to mind. Good luck selling tickets to an event where most of these bands don’t have enough drawing power that this will be a success. Most of these acts can be seen locally at some point during the year and I wouldn’t drive more than an hour to see. Tom Petty headlining? Yikes.

I would not make a special trip just for this.

I’m sure it’ll be great and all and there’s still a large part of the list that I haven’t seen live, but I’m just not sure it’s worth it…

Wow. Unless this line up gets a lot better, I’ll stay at the casino.
