TV on the Radio Records New Material, Leave Interscope

In a recent interview with SPIN, TV on the Radio announced the band has parted ways with Interscope and have already recorded new material with a single slated later this year on new label, Federal Prism. Singer Tunde Adebimpe says he and Kyp Malone (singer/multi-instrumentalist), went to Dave Sitek’s studio in LA in late March and have already finished a couple of songs.

We’re sort of collecting material for a record, but right now we’re only thinking in terms of songs, smaller things we can put out regularly until an album seems possible. – Tunde Adebimpe, TVOTR

They are still looking for a full-time bassist (but are in no rush) after the untimely death of bassist/producer Gerard Smith — which happened just days after the release of their fourth album, Nine Types of Light in 2011. This Saturday, April 27th, TVOTR will close out New York’s Crossing Brooklyn Ferry festival and headline the ATP Festival’s first weekend in May.
