TMZ is reporting that Tom Petty was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after he was found unconscious, not breathing and in full cardiac arrest.
Our thoughts are with Petty’s friends and families as we await further details, but it doesn’t sound good based on the TMZ report.
EMTs rushed to his Malibu home and were able to get a pulse. He was rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital and our sources say he was put on life support.
UPDATE: as of 4pm PST, the latest from TMZ is that he is not expected to live through the night.
TMZ broke the story, Tom was in full cardiac arrest and unconscious. He was taken to the hospital and put on life support but there was no brain activity. A chaplain came to administer last rights and he was taken off of life support.
He’s not expected to survive the day.

He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived.
He died peacefully at 8:40pm PST surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.
