The Slip — perhaps that best exemplifies the term “post-jam” — had a big 2006.

They toured with My Morning Jacket, played NPR’s Live Concert Series, were featured on AOL’s Interface, released a very solid album that got some good blog coverage, and somehow got their song “Even Rats” featured on the hot new video game, Guitar Hero. And most importantly, they were featured on one of Live Music Blog’s famous podcasts.

But, to be honest, I think they may be slated for an even bigger year in 2007.

They’ve started off the year quite a bang. Their song, “Life in Disguise,” off of Eisenhower, was featured on the popular TV show “Grey’s Anatomy” to much aplomb. They also played “Children of December” on Late Night with Conan O’Brien! And they’ve announced an extensive Spring tour throughout the U.S. and Canada, and are slated for a slew of big performances at Sasquatch, Wakarusa, and Bonnaroo!

That’s a pretty solid tour they’ve got going. It’s nice to see this band finally riding the wave of popularity, especially since I can remember seeing a bunch thier small-club shows in the Northeast audiences barely more than 50. It’s enough to make a fanatic like me proud (sniff sniff).

But with that said, I really feel that their performances on and were pretty rough and a little lackluster. Maybe they were nervous with so many more eyes and ears than they’re used to, but if they’re going to exhibit their true talents (and I do think they’re talented), they’re going to have to deliver on these big performances.

Perhaps will feel a bit more at ease on their club circuit. They’ve got a hell of a tour lined up. Dates and a few videos after the jump…
