As many of you may know, Scott Larned passed away on Sunday afternoon. He was the original keyboardist and one of the founding members of Dark Star Orchestra, the greatest Grateful Dead tribute band ever.
To all in Chicago: there will be a memorial get-together for him TONIGHT at Kinetic Playground, 1113 W. Lawrence. If you were touched by DSO, you should find plenty of people there that are feeling what you’re feeling right now.
To all in Denver: there will be a memorial at Quixote’s TONIGHT.
Personally, I was never a huge Grateful Dead fan, so unfortunately I never really got into DSO (by default). Everyone I know that was a Dead fan was thoroughly impressed with DSO, and I think that speaks volumes for the power of this band. I’m sorry to see that he passed away young, especially young for a sudden heart attack. I’m sure he will be greatly missed in the community…
