Rage Against the Machine played their first show together as a band in 11 years last night at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin. It was so bittersweet to think of what voice they could have brought to the live music scene over the past few years of chaos, and it was painful to see it postponed as long as it was due to the recent times. Based on what went down, it looks like this band is going to be back and bigger than ever over the next few years and bringing along the dynamic duo of Killer Mike and El-P (aka Run The Jewels) to warm up the crowd will set the right tone.
For those just scanning for the quick details, here’s what the setlist from the show looked like:
Rage Against the Machine @ Alpine Valley, East Troy WI 7.9.22
Intro, Bombtrack, People of the Sun, Bulls on Parade, Bullet in the Head, Testify, Tire Me, Wake Up, Guerrilla Radio, Without a Face, Know Your Enemy, Calm Like a Bomb, Sleep Now in the Fire, War Within a Breath, The Ghost of Tom Joad*, Freedom / Township Rebellion, Killing in the Name
* – Bruce Springsteen cover

Walking into Rage Against the Machine…and wow, wearing a Biden 2024 shirt was a bad idea.
