, I posted the Taste of Chicago’s 2007 concert lineup, and one of our readers commented that he didn’t know of anything similar that happens in . True. I don’t know of any big-time food festivals in with free music (if you do; please enlighten me!). But, there’s definitely one thing I have never heard of happening in : a concert booze cruise series. Sure, there might be a one-time private event like that here and there, but nothing that compares to ’s Rocks Off Concert Cruise Series.

I recently checked out the current Rocks Off 2007 lineup, and there are some great bands playing this summer. Sure, we’ve got our normal cast of jam-heavy characters (, , the Breakfast, Odyssey), but there are also plenty of other bands and DJs that crossover all kinds of categories and genres (, , Carbon Leaf, , ). The list is pretty darn impressive. Plus, there’s nothing quite like rocking out on a boat off the island of Manhattan at the stroke of midnight. Add to that the intimacy of the ‘Rocks Off’ experience and the seafaring debauchery, and you’ve got yourself a great summer night in !
