Farm Aid – More Acts Announced
Update: Widespread Panic just announced that they’re going to be joining in on the festivities as well. AWESOME!
Okay so I’m a little late on this, but more acts were recently added to the Farm Aid lineup. As previously reported, the concert takes place on September 18 at the Tweeter Center in Tinley Park, IL.
The new additions to the bill include:
Los Lonely Boys
Buddy Guy
Susan Tedeschi
Kenny Chesney
Also performing:
Willie Nelson
John Mellencamp
Neil Young
Dave Matthews
Wilco
From the looks of this lineup, Farm Aid is sure to deliver a little something for everyone.
I absolutely agree.
Sometimes I wonder how much of that the bands can control–you always hear horror stories about what contracts new band sign without fully realizing the consequences–and actually prevent. It’s like, Los Lonely Boys vs. the Record Company when it comes to deciding how to hawk the stuff.

Something about the Los Lonely Boys really irks me. They used to have TV commercials on cable to pump their album, the one that wound up producing their (supercrappy) hit. Now, cable TV advertising is fine for Popeil and Lending Tree. But there’s something incredibly phony and unsettling about a band that hawks an album like an Ab Roller.

If you come into Chicago and buy my ticket, I might go with you…

Ever see that scene in Festival Express when Buddy Guy takes a forklift from the stage down to the crowd while playing the guitar? Well, it’s an instant classic.
I saw Buddy at the Jammys and he can still rip it up 35 years after that scene. Also had a pretty ecllectic and awesome back-up group of Phil Lesh, ?uestlove and Ryan Adams. I’d be psyched to see Buddy there.
Tweeter Center perhaps sucking aside, that’s a pretty cool lineup. I wouldn’t mind seeing Tweedy with Neil Young and Willie on stage together…

Stupid Tweeter Center! Seriously, anyone that likes that venue should be shot.
