Set 3 began with the emergence of the band with Trey Anastasio Band’s horn section as well as percussions Andrés Forero (Hamilton); the band delivered a “Broadway”-style “Petrichor” featuring a line of dancers fronting the band on stage and performing a dance using umbrellas (“And the rain came down…”). About a minute before NYE Trey joked that it was never too soon and started the countdown that lead the band into Auld Lang Syne. The entire venue then got a huge balloon drop featuring balloon cats and balloon dogs (because it was raining cats and dogs). In classic NYE fashion the stage was absolutely covered in balloons. All of set 3 and encore had horns and percussion backing up the band.
