Phish just finished a two night run at The Mann Center in Philadelphia where the streak of playing “a lot less covers” was somewhat broken with the appearance of “Also Sprach Zarathustra” last night and “Crosseyed and Painless” tonight. While the chatter among the internets is that the shows had their sets of peaks and valleys, the band continues to take their new album Fuego for a walk around the typical setlist structures of any other summer tour in the band’s recent history with very new, exciting, and refreshing results. Besides the improv highlight of a 17-minute “Chalkdust Torture,” tonight’s set ended with an “unfinished” Mike’s Groove going into the encore that brought a one-two punch of “Julius > Weekapaug Groove” to finish the show.
