When I was away camping this weekend, word began to spread about a string of possible Phish fall tour dates. Well, word has actually been spreading since the band started their summer tour, but this weekend marked the first taste of “official” media on the subject when the Denver Post printed word that the band will be playing in Broomfield, CO on October 10-12. Following the band’s performance on Friday, 10/8 at Austin City Limits Music Festival, obviously we’d put this in the highly plausible “book your hotel” category of rumors. Plus, we have it on good authority that these dates below are indeed THE actual dates for Fall 2010, not just tentative. Sorry, Las Vegas, you’ve been cut.
The band seems to be concentrating on their home turf when they return in October, something we really shouldn’t be surprised with. In doing so, they are also guaranteeing some hard-to-acquire-tickets come this fall. This year’s rumored venue for Halloween is Boardwalk Hall (capacity 13,800), quite the contrast to the festival grounds of the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, CA. This time, with a lengthy run of shows before the holiday, the band should be firing on all cylinders entering the home stretch of New Jersey if their recent history is any indication. Time to book my hotel…
