Wow. I’ve been scouring the internets a bit this morning and reading about all the awesome s*** that went down this weekend at Bonnaroo. It looks like attendance was down overall, which doesn’t necessarily surprise me given the headliners and overall festival economies these days. Maybe that made for a more comfortable music festival overall, because it looked great from where I was sitting. Maybe I’ll have to get over my Bonnaroo phobia and give it a try again next year.
At any rate, tons of stuff to get to this week — so read up on the stuff from last week and keep checking back in with the site this week while we drop some k-knowledge.
- From the Pit | Mountain Jam 2008, Day 1
In its fourth year, Mountain Jam has become one of the staples of the festival circuit. This is a well-run, well-organized festival that gets a little better every year. And as long as the weather cooperates, which for the most… - Toubab Krewe | 2008 Tour Dates
Toubab Krewe just announced some more tour dates that I wanted to highlight after Whit saw their set back in Virginia and blogged about them. I’m super glad to see these guys still on the road. They’ve hooked up a… - Concert Industry Roundup
It’s been a while since I covered the Concert Industry on LMB. I don’t have much of an excuse as I am arguably much closer to it on a daily basis after my last career move. Whatever mental block I… - Bonnaroo.com Goes Social Network
If you’re gearing up for Bonnaroo this week, do us a favor and let us know what you think of their new website. They announced a few weeks back that a giant portion of Bonnaroo.com was being re-done as a… - From the Pit | Mountain Jam 2008, Day 2
Saturday was going to be a long day. We planned on getting to the mountain in time to see Sharon Jones, whose set began at 2:15 p.m., with plans to stay and see Dark Star Orchestra, whose set was scheduled… - The Union Forever | Vincent Moon
The last few installments of the The Union Forever dealt with the possibility of a cinema that is purely online. Not a reproduction of the movie industry on the Internet, but an entirely different mode of creation. The medium… - My Morning Jacket to Play MSG on NYE
I just saw this news in the LMB inbox and was rather impressed: 2008 already looked like it would be a big year for My Morning Jacket, but I can’t say I thought they’d already be playing Madison Square Garden… - Bonnaroo 2008 Preview | The Only Schedule to Follow…
Posting a Bonnaroo preview is a daunting task; six years ago when I attended it was arduous to see all the bands I was sweet on and now there are triple the acts. I can’t even imagine trying to get see anywhere near half of the bands listed on the line-up but for those of you who are going LMB is gonna try and give you a few suggestions along the way. The best way to do this is for us suggest a few acts not to miss and a few can misses — and not tell you to see Pearl Jam when they’re the only band playing. - From the Pit | Mountain Jam 2008, Day 3
Sunday was going to be a shorter day than the prior two, ending at ten, but the lineup was going to be chock full of musical goodness. Ensuring that we were going to have the fortitude we needed meant a… - Heady Links
This year’s Bonnaroo has already begun. So if you’re not already there, you’re probably like me and only able to check out this year’s festival from afar. Luckily for folks like us, there are even more opportunities in 2008 to… - Bonnaroo Videos: Metallica, Raconteurs
Yesterday, we listed a few different ways to keep tabs on this year’s Bonnaroo. Here’s one more. It’s only Saturday and Kurt654 has compiled some solid cuts from Metallica, the Raconteurs, and the Fiery Furnaces from the festivities down in… - Vampire Weekend | The Fillmore, Miami 6/9/08
Here’s another review from our friend down in Florida, Drew Gerlach. The other night I got to catch the most blogged-about band of 2008 so far, Vampire Weekend, at the recently renovated Fillmore at Jackie Gleason Theater in South Beach….
