Our intrepid man-on-the-scene down at Langerado this year is Drew Gerlach, a new friend of the site that agreed to chronicle his festival experience when the original lineup was announced and he made his decision to attend this festival (I guess Metallica at Bonnaroo wasn’t really doin’ it for him). He filed this first report late yesterday and I haven’t heard anything from him today, so who knows if we’ve got another Coventry-like situation on our hands here. Here’s to hoping he made it in unscathed.
Welcome to sunny…err I mean rainy South Florida for the sixth annual Langerado Festival. With crowds anticipated to reach close to 25,000, this will be the largest, longest, and most ginormous one to date. Even though there have been three major cancellations (and lots of groans of disappointment) in Vampire Weekend, Robert Randolph, and The Balkan Beat Box, this fest still has plenty of weight. With rain pelting the majority of South Florida today, lines of cars are already backed up both ways on the “Alligator Alley” (I-75) with wait times of over three hours. This could easily become a muddy mess, with more rain and thunderstorms heading our way on Saturday. Either way, I will be there providing reviews, comments, funny pictures of wooks (if I can get some), amongst other thoughts. Hitting Walmart for a poncho, beer, boots, and water and then I’ll be on my way.
