Lately I’ve been seeing more and more buzz surrounding Backyard Tire Fire, a new addition to the live music scene in the past few years but quickly becoming recognizable nationwide. They’ve played festivals. They’ve toured like crazy. They stay close to home to keep their base strong.
They also keep their recording schedule relatively tight. After last year’s late release of Skin and Bones [ep], they start 2007 with the announcement of their full-length release, Vagabonds and Hooligans. Their road manager sent me a copy and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this release ever since.
Here’s a sample…
They’re definitely hitting the road in support of this new record and they’re hosting an exciting looking CD release show right here in Chicago at the Double Door. Jay Bennett from ex-Wilco fame and Death Ships open the show. Yes, you read that correctly — Jay Bennett is opening for Backyard Tire Fire. And funny enough, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart was on the Sundance channel last night and I only caught the tail-end (sans Bennett). Oh well.
