Hump Day Links

Man, I’ve been completely at a loss lately for site content. I can link to stuff ’till I’m blue in the face but apparently I can’t come up with a decent blog post that’ll satisfy my minor case of writer’s block…

I should be clear, too. It’s not like I ever suffer from writer’s block considering the fact that I’m not actually a writer. But I digress…

Enjoy your Wednesday, folks! There’s plenty of live music news around and about, so I’ll try and feature the best and brightest here.

Umphrey’s McGee gets a Safety in Numbers “they’re more serious now” write-up on RollingStone.com.

Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot are taking Sound Opinions national, baby! They’ve got Minneapolis signed on and boy they’re psyched. I got to sit in on a taping of this show a couple weeks ago and I had a great time. I didn’t really get to sit and chat with DeRo and Kot so I was sorta bummed about that.

Jam on the River 2006 boasts a pretty sweet lineup for their Memorial Day weekend festival. The Secret Machines, The Duo, and the Disco Biscuits have all signed on.

Glenn from Coolfer has an excellent guest-blog post on another blog discussing MySpace and its power…
MySpace is the greatest equilizer since the advent of affordable CD manufacturing. It allows everybody an equal chance to be heard. From superstars to unheard garage bands, everybody can have a page and anybody can become a friend of those artists, thereby becoming part of their online network. And MySpace offers the same tools to everybody, big or small or in the middle.

Hopefully more later…

  1. DeRogotis is **the** comic book guy and he’s a slob who doesn’t have the faintest notion of a personality. He didn’t take his nose out of his notes when we were in the room. It’s as if there was a giant bowl of pasta in front of him….and he tars. That’s a good combo, right?
