I just got a new email update from Umphrey’s McGee and there was a little snippet in there that I never noticed elsewhere…
In regards to Summer Camp 2006 coming up on Memorial Day weekend…
Sunday night, we’ll be doing a special late night show with moe. We will split- and team-up to play two split squads; the first Split Squad will be Joel, Jake, Andy, and Ryan teaming up with Chuck and Vinnie, and the second Split Squad will be Brendan and Kris teaming up with Al, Rob, and Jim. Tickets for the late night shows are $10.00; a limited pre-sale for the late night tickets will be on May 13 through Summer Camp Tickets.
moe. and Umphrey’s McGee are bringing something extra to the table, and it’s only fitting that the two headliners of a nice-sized music festival actually try to do something new while performing there. And not that this is a completely new concept to moe. or Umphrey’s McGee–they’ve played with each other a million times and they’ve done full-band switch-outs* on more than one occasion. This is different, though. This is announced. This is Brain-Damaged Eggmen style…
All the kudos to the guys for trying something new and unique in a situation where fans are hoping on paying for something unique. I like to call that “the jackpot.” – Dodgeball
* – full band switch-out meaning that during mid-jam, the guys trade instruments with the other members of the other band and create a seemless jam by which fans won’t know the wiser…
