standup.jpgLast weekend I got Dave Matthews Band’s new CD & DVD Stand Up, and I’ve listened to it a few times with mixed feelings. The first time I listened to it I was disappointed, the songs seemed plastic, rushed, and focused on a teenage audience used to that pop music feeling. The idea of sampling just didnt seem to fit the DMB I was used to. This all being said, there are a few songs that I love on the album, and others seem to be growing on me a bit. The harder feeling of “Hunger For The Great Light” and excitement of “Hello Again” stand out as favorites. “Dreamgirl” also had a nice wholesome feeling to it with good lyrics, something I just can’t say for the rest of the songs. In my opinion, take those three songs along with “American Baby” and download them singularly from iTunes and save your $10 or so. Maybe it’s just me with my love for live performances with a harder rock edge but I wanted to hear what other “jam band” fans feel about this album. Well, I’ll let you know what I think when I see them perform in June with Robert Randolph & the Family Band opening!

I guess I’m going to have to listen to this album and give you my two cents as well. I’m definitely not as big of a Dave Matthews Band fan as I used to…
