No better way to wrap up a great Phil and Friends two night run, than a brunch with the Terrapin Family Band. This is the second time that The Terrapin Family Band has appeared in Vegas on the Brooklyn Bowl stage and I can’t think of a better way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon. These brunches provide friends time recoup and enjoy some music and amazing food. It is also great for me to be able to bring my family and have my six-year-old daughter see a living legend play music with his son. This year’s brunch did not disappoint.

This single set show, hit the ground running and Grahame Lesh played and sang a great “Bertha” to open. This let the band unwind and drummer Alex Koford stepped up to the mic and sang Ramble on Rose. A nice laid back groove for a Sunday afternoon that led into Althea. Phil took the lead with “Whiskey in the Jar” and had the crowd singing and dancing like they were at a Bluegrass Festival. Grahame took it to another level with a very heartfelt “When I Paint My Masterpiece”, which still had that country twang leftover from the previous song. I must say, Ross James and Jason Crosby stole the show weaving in and out of “Sunday Morning Coming Down” sung by Ross, “Mississippi Half Step” sung by Phil, and “Big Rail Road Blues” sung by Ross. Jason and Ross play so well together and they keep it fun. I could listen to their tones and solos all day.

The band shutdown the single set show with Alex singing a swinging “Monkey Man”, and Ross capped it off with an awesome “Sampson and Delilah”. The encore was a fitting “Going Down the Road Feeling Bad”. A perfect song to send us all on our way home. There were smiles all around, as all the band members took some solos and sang the afternoon to a close.
