The news from the Phish camp seems to keep coming this week. Mike Gordon just announced a set of tour dates to promote his new album, The Green Sparrow, a recording that our lovable Cactus worked on for most of 2007. Read on for the dates and more info on the album.
Also, for fans in Chicago, keep your eyes and ears open on the follow-up announcements that will be coming for his Sept. 4 date at Park West. We’re left with the impression that it’ll be something special, and it’ll “feature multiple musicians and performance artists, all to be announced shortly.” Sweet.

“THE GREEN SPARROW” IN STORES AUGUST 5th
We’re thrilled to announce the release of Mike Gordon’s new solo album, The Green Sparrow. Set for an August 5th release via Rounder Records, The Green Sparrow showcases his wide range of influences in a winning 10-track album.
A rewarding year and a half of work went into The Green Sparrow. An artist known for his endless creativity and touring stamina, Mike took 2007 off from touring and dedicated his time to writing this record. His efforts yielded a vibrant new solo album full of accessible songs and unmistakable creations of Gordon’s playfully idiosyncratic musical mind. He worked mainly at his home studio in Vermont, but also forayed to New York’s Electric Lady Studios for additional recording and Trey Anastasio’s rural Vermont studio, The Barn, for mixing.
The Green Sparrow features special guests Trey Anastasio and Page McConnell, Bill Kreutzmann (The Grateful Dead), Chuck Leavell (The Rolling Stones), Ivan Neville and horn players from Antibalas.
From the deeply rooted funk of “Radar Blip” to the rousing intricacies of “Andelmans’ Yard,” from the spirited rock of “Traveled Too Far” to the punch of “Another Door,” The Green Sparrow is a playful album from an artist who continually reveals new layers of far-reaching invention.
Keep your eyes on Mike’s website for more information as we move closer to the release date.
