One of my favorite new bands that I’ve managed to catch a few times over the past few years is Lymbyc Systym. I first caught them as an opener for Tea Leaf Green and I’ve since caught them at their showcase show at Emo’s at this year’s SXSW Music Festival. They’ve announced some dates cross-country and plan on announcing more soon…

Personally, this is just what good music is all about. Go catch them live and marvel at how similar these guys look as brothers; they could be twins, except they’re not. I went up and chatted with Mike after their set at SXSW, and I gave him my business card and mentioned that I would try to be in touch soon. He looked down and noticed the big ‘ol Google logo, and said, “Hey, we actually played there once! They set us up outside while everyone was eating lunch and we played for the people that ate outside on their lunch break.” An odd rush of emotion hit me when I realized that I was bummed to have missed that, and that all immediately went away when I realized that I would certainly get to take part in other activities like that if I decide to move out here to the West Coast. I’m so glass half-empty sometimes.
