I woke up to some interesting news in my twitterfeed this morning: Radiohead announced an initial set of US tour dates for 2012. It looks like they'll be fleshing this out into a larger U.S. tour soon, something that hasn't happened since 2008. We will definitely keep an eye out... more

TOUR DATES: Tinariwen playing Fun Fun Fun Fest this weekend
Tuareg blues grooves anyone? I first got turned on to Tinariwen after eMusic flagged their last album as a recommendation. I certainly wasn't alone in loving their sound, as they quickly put together a U.S. tour. Since then, they've caught the attention of some fellow musicians, as their new record,... more

LMB NYC: This Week’s Concert Calendar – Oct 24-30
Although last week there were a ton of shows going on due to CMJ, I think I'm actually more impressed with this week's selection. Amon Tobin's doing his ISAM live show at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple for three nights (Tues-Thurs). On Tuesday, the Field will bring their hypnotic loop-based... more

(updated on 10/20/11 for Chicago additions) Longtime readers already know that I've got a sweet spot in my heart (er, ears) for Steve Kimock. That's especially true when Steve -- in one of his many and varied musical projects -- links up with funky-ass bassman, Bobby Vega. I documented one of... more
TOUR DATES: The War on Drugs fall and winter dates
One of my favorite albums of the year so far is Slave Ambient by the War on Drugs. I recently flagged these guys in one of my Song of the Day posts over on WP.com and described them as follows: The overall sound of the album is fresh but familiar. The... more

LMB NYC: This Week’s Concert Calendar – Oct 3 – 9
In any given week there's always a ton of NYC-area shows spanning across multiple genres and styles, but it seems like this week's concert calendar is even more sonically random than normal. Here are the highlights as I see 'em... Early in the week, we've got Explosions in the Sky... more
LMB NYC: This Week’s Concert Calendar – Sept 26 – Oct 2
This week in NYC Live Music is an interesting one, with a couple notable heavy-hitters and a few solid small-club shows... After their Saturday night slot as the musical guest on SNL, Radiohead decided to stick around town for two, now-sold-out shows at the Roseland Ballroom; definitely a tough ticket due... more

LMB NYC: This Week’s Concert Calendar – Sept 13 – 19
This is another one of those week's of live music in NYC that requires some serious skills with scheduling and logistics. There are a ton of great shows and there's just not enough time, energy, and cash flow to take them all in. Since I'm still out of pocket, and... more

LMB NYC: This Week’s Concert Calendar – Aug 30 – Sept 5
Although Hurricane Irene ended up being rather wimpy -- considering all of the preparations and dire warnings -- it certainly screwed up a lot of NYC concerts and festivals this past weekend. Brooklyn Bowl had to postpone BP's Saturday show, so I was denied what would have certainly been a... more

LMB NYC: This Week’s Concert Calendar – Aug 16 – 22, 2011
This week's NYC Concert Calendar seems a tad quieter than last week's....which makes it seemingly a perfect week to highlight a bunch of smaller, intimate shows that are going on in town. In last week's post I already flagged Music for Money, specifically for fans of Battles and Tortoise. Those... more
