There’s nothing better to me than the feeling of having a friend send you a track that they’ve expressly picked out to send to you via Google Chat, and you click that link and sorta think “well I’m sure hope this is worth my time” considering everyone is just all up in your grill and trying to send you music links day in and day out claiming each one is better than the next. And that link just so happens to be a new project you’ve never heard of before called Mount Kimbie and the song just happens to be “Mayor”…

Those really are the good moments. I’ve totally been enamored with this UK outfit since that first Gchat message a few years ago, and sadly I’ve never been able to catch the band live. That changes soon, though — the group has announced a set of dates in August state-side in addition to the already announced dates around the rest of the world.

They also put out an accompanying mix to help hype up the tour, which is a super interesting listen.

Here are their remaining 2014 dates that have been announced so far:

07/12 — Pohoda Festival — Bratislava, SK:
07/17 — Dour Festival — Dour, BL:
07/18 — Farr Festival — Newnham, outside London, UK:

UPDATE: turns out a few of the dates need to be modified or cancelled due to visa issues. Read the post here or below. Blurg.

Hi guys
We are really sorry to say that due to issues with Kai’s visa processing we’re going to have to cancel the live dates we had planned in North America this August.
Dom can travel, and will play a Mount Kimbie DJ set at the scheduled dates in San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto and New York instead of the live performances. All original tickets are valid, or if you want a full refund please talk to your point of purchase.
08/27 – San Francisco, The Chapel
08/28 – Chicago, Concord Music Hall
08/29 – Toronto, The Hoxton
08/30 – NYC, The Wick
We’re very sorry we can’t make it over as a live band this time. This issue is completely out of our hands and we ask for your understanding. These will be Dom’s first ever US DJ dates though, so make sure you get down anyway if you can!
We look forward to heading back to North America as a live band very shortly.
See you soon,
Dom & Kai
