Foxygen Release New Video, Cancel Tour Dates Due to July Injury

Foxygen released a new video yesterday for “We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic”, the title track off their 2012 album of the same name, and it got me excited to see them live this Saturday at The Chapel in San Francisco.

But, alas, my calendar was not as up to date as it should’ve been. The psyche-rock band from SoCal was forced to cancel all of their fall tour dates dates preceding Austin City Limits after frontman Sam France broke his leg on-stage in Minneapolis last July.

Here’s a statement from the band:

The cancellation is directly related to injuries sustained by Sam in July. Sam sustained complete fractures of the tibia and fibula– severe enough to require surgery. He is currently unable to walk unassisted…Thanks so much to our fans for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you soon! Physical therapy is under way! Thank you thank you thank you for your time, attention, and understanding.

These unforeseen cancellations follow not long after France experienced an on-stage meltdown at SXSW earlier this year and cancelled a part of their summer tour to take a “creative health” hiatus.

We love Foxygen and are sending the band good vibrations with the hopes of catching them later this year on the west coast. One thing we’ll be counting on is that it will be a tough ticket. Here is a revised list of Foxygen’s fall tour dates.
