Ravi Shankar passes at the age of 92
Sitar master Ravi Shankar died yesterday at the age of 92. The man who brought Indian music to the West passed away on Tuesday at a hospital in San Diego, CA with family by his side. Besides multiple Grammy Awards, Shankar is also known for teaching the Beatles’ George Harrison the sitar, and is the father of singer Norah Jones. Harrison once called Pandit Ravi Shankar “the Godfather of world music”. It was just announced that he will receive the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award at the February 10th Grammys in Los Angeles.
