CONCERT RECAP: G. Love and Special Sauce @ The Ridgefield Playhouse, Ridgefield, CT 11/14/12

It could not have been a more intimate evening. First off, as if being in the quaint little town of Ridgefield, CT isn’t cozy enough; I had the pleasure of seeing these two bands in a theater with a maximum capacity of 500, and needless to say it was a packed house.
Starting off was out of Rochester, NY. Their performance was a bit out of the ordinary for them – putting aside their normal reggae-ish sound, they admittedly modeled their set after the sound and groove of the main act, . It was a quite appropriate sound for the setting and evening. Nonetheless, a fun and upbeat performance from a great band who really knows how to throw it down no matter what setting they’re playing.

After a ½ hour set break, out came Garrett Dutton, who is of course more popularly known as G. Love with his band Special Sauce making their appearance on stage. With his unique sound and combo of blues and funk and a touch of jazz, you can never go wrong catching one of his shows. The venue’s security had a difficult time keeping people seated and stopping them from dancing – the whole headlining performance kept everyone moving and grooving all night long!
