CMJ Music Marathon 2012 Announces Initial Lineup

CMJ Music Marathon announced its first round of artists for this year’s event earlier today, and the festival will take over the Big Apple from October 16-20. CMJ 2012 includes a broad-spanning line-up, drawing on acts from a global spectrum and array of musical genres as always. Last year’s breakout success was undoubtedly Alabama Shakes, who, by early summer, were playing to crowds in the 10′s of thousands at major festivals (see photo below from a couple weeks ago at Outside Lands). Although the buzz began to build a few weeks before they arrived for CMJ, the word got out very quick about the Shakes after getting press love from New York Times in an article titled At CMJ, A Critic’s Imagination Come To Life, Out of Alabama. CMJ provides ample I-was-there-first opportunities for fans, all you’ve gotta do is get out there and be lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
