Happy Memorial Day, concert freaks! Since you’re all probably heading out to enjoy the last day of a nice long weekend, let’s get right down to business with this week’s NYC shows listings. Galactic are back in NYC for a four-night NOLA funk throwdown at Brooklyn Bowl with Corey Henry (Rebirth Brass Band) and Corey Glover (Living Colour) joining them for all shows. They’re also bringing in a bunch of special guests for each night’s festivities, including John Medeski, Steven Bernstein, and Skerik and Mike Dillon of Dead Kenny Gs (and Garage-a-Trois). Beyond that, there are a few other jammy mainstays including Dark Star Orchestra, Zach Deputy, and Bela Fleck is linking up with famed Jazz pianist, Marcus Roberts, for what should be an interesting duo. On the more indie/eclectic side of the fence, there’s Apparat, Porcelain Raft, Gogol Bordello, the always-interesting Tune-Yards, and Caribou and Radiohead will do two nights out at the Prudential Center in Newark.
