WHEN: Friday, April 27th @ 10 p.m.
WHERE: Republic New Orleans in the Warehouse District @ 828 South Peters St
TICKETS: $35 (BUY EM)
WHY?: After an amazing opening day down at the Fairgrounds (Bon Iver, Beach Boys, Steel Pulse & more), Republic New Orleans will literally be overflowing with talented players as a revolving door of legendary, road warrior and local musicians take the stage for a show that will undoubtedly go deep into the night. Last year’s Dead-themed show was touted by many as the best night show of 2011, and new Jazz Fest night player NOLAFUNK managed to bring back the lineup (and more) for an encore performance.
For starters, the city’s greatest modern guitarist Anders Osborne will be joined by his right hand man Billy Iuso, alongside the incomparable Bill Kreutzmann. Throw in the exceptionally gifted and polished professionalism of Little Feat’s Fred Tackett & Paul Barrere and a couple other standalone sets worth the price of admission and you’ve got yourself one of the better night shows of the entire festival marathon. Not a bad way for the NOLA-music lovin’ folks up their in the Big Apple to make a big first impression on the Jazz Fest night people at their inaugural late nighter.
Times are as follows:
Marco Benevento 10pm
Anders Osborne, Bill Kreutzmann, Paul Barrere & Fred Tackett 11:30pm
ALO 2:30am
